I am a geographer with 4 years of experience and I am currently in my final year of my Master of Science in Geography and Environmental Systems at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). UMBC is also where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Geography in Environmental Science with a Computer Science minor as well as a GIS Certificate.
During my time in my graduate program I worked in the mapping.capital lab with my Master’s research focusing on the geographies of incarceration in the United States. I also contributed to various research projects around cities, housing and technology using critical GIS methods.
In addition to being a research assistant, I was also a teaching assistant to a GIS class for four semesters and assisted the department’s GIS lab. For two years I also worked as a GIS consultant for different academics and non-profit organizations producing cartographic visualizations, developing spatial indices, and providing web map integration assistance.
In my free time I like being creative and bringing that creativity to others. One of my side passions is red panda photography which has enabled me to raise thousands of dollars for red panda conservation and the Red Panda Network.
